Reduce energy costs while increasing property values

The Multifamily Housing Retrofit Program serves multifamily housing for income qualified occupants, it provides the financial and technical resources for energy efficient facility upgrades.

What it provides: Energy surveys and dwelling unit treatment are provided at no charge. A negotiated cost share applies to refrigerator replacements, electric heating and cooling upgrades, and common area retrofits.

MULTIFAMILY HOUSING RETROFIT PROGRAM: WHAT IS IT

Duquesne Light’s Multifamily Housing Retrofit Program (MFHR) is the multifamily facility operator’s “one-stop shop” to receive project cost-share incentives (cash rebates) as well as energy efficiency audits, technical project review, property aggregation, contractor negotiation and equipment bulk purchasing services. The MFHR project manager will develop cost-share proposals and assist with integration of funding sources.

Operated in conjunction with the Public Agency Partnership Program, the MFHR can be a technical financial resource for public housing authorities as well as private owners of low income housing with more than four units. Duquesne Light works with the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania (PHFA), affordable housing trade groups and other interested parties to coordinate and tailor services focused on the development of affordable housing. Coordinating with housing authority representatives, the MFHR project manager works toward a systematic inventory of housing stock and provision of program services to affect building energy efficiency retrofits.

REBATES

In addition to negotiated cost-shares described above, prescriptive Energy Efficiency Rebates are available for eligible equipment upgrades and improvements including lighting and cooling. Rebates are paid based on the quantity, size, and efficiency of the equipment.

Custom incentives are available to customers for less common or more complex energy saving measures installed in qualified retrofit and equipment replacement projects. Custom measure incentives are paid based on a per kWh savings basis.
